If you’re struggling with motivation or getting your work done, think about the environment you surround yourself in. My desk area is where I spend a huge amount of time editing, scrolling through Instagram in the name of research, and getting ready in the mornings. personally, I must have a space that’s clean, functional and cute. If you’re struggling with space like myself, I would suggest looking at alternatives such as a ladder desk shelf. Today I’m sharing how I decorate and organize my ladder desk to function and as a 3 in 1 work area.
If you’re like me, and you’re living in London then you know most of these flats are practically the size of shoeboxes literally! Let’s be real girl… you jump for joy when all your basic necessities can fit in your bedroom. On a brighter note, it really forced me to get creative. I knew I wanted a clean and tidy work area as well as space where I could do my makeup, edit and film! Whew so basically a 3in I 1 desk for a tiny small space! Ok, no pressure!
After hunting online, I ended up ordering a vanity that just didn’t arrive 🙁 despite me patiently waiting for over 3 months! Can you feel my stress through the screen? Yup… I was hella annoyed and it didn’t help that the company blamed everything on covid so there wasn’t a thing I could do about it.
Moving forward, This was a bit of an impulsive buy but I decided to get a ladder shelf desk more for functionality and practicality rather than aesthetics. Albeit, I still wanted it to look cute so I searched all of Pinterest for ideas and inspiration and to my surprise, there wasn’t much online 🙁
ORGANISING & SUPPLIES
I wanted to keep my items all in one place that would be easy to access. For all my pens and highlighters etc… I opted for this super functional desk lamp that not only acts as a tripod for my phone but can store all my basic stationary. The lights are dimmable, it’s also very flexible as you can bend it into any shape that’s fitting. I charge it for a few hours and the light stays on for a long time. Can you sense a theme here? For most of the furniture pieces, before purchasing I always ensure that it’s multifunctional to save on space. If you’re working with a small tiny space that would be my biggest Tip.
TURNING MY LADDER SHELF DESK INTO A VANITY AREA
When you’re working with a small space, it’s important to get organised. Acrylic storage is your friend girl! They are functional and cute 🙂 I bought some cute acrylic storage from amazon that I use as inserts for the pull-out draw. I use these to organise all my lipsticks, blushes, concealers and pretty much everything makeup.
One of my favourite and most used purchases is this spinning acrylic tray from TK Maxx but you can get the same on amazon. This holds my foundations, skincare products and pretty much everything I will need to get ready. I pop this on the desk along with the vanity mirror I spoke about in my amazon beauty favourites blog post. The spinning acrylic tray and the vanity mirror is great because they are both compact and minimal so I can easily swap this with my laptop and immediately I have a vanity ladder desk.
ORGANISING TIPS FOR SMALL AT HOME OFFICE SPACES
- For most people, a cluttered workspace makes for a cluttered mind. Not only will having an organized desk look more inviting, but it’ll motivate you to get to work, especially since you won’t have to clear paper piles and junk out of your way to getting the job done.
- Add Shelves- Chunky furniture overwhelms small spaces. Make use of the vertical space by adding shelves. It’s a great way to display artwork and store your favourite books.
- Conquer your desk drawer junk with an assortment of acrylic organizers.
- Buy Multipurpose products- This will save time, money and space! My desk lamp is a great example of this. It’s a win-win for me 🙂
HOW I DECORATE MY LADDER DESK SHELF FOR A 3 IN 1 WORK FROM SPACE
This is the fun part, I love to surround myself with things that inspire me. I got these two posters from Desenio and the frames I purchased separately on posterstore.co.uk. As for everything else, I filled my shelves with my fav motivational books and this cute little radio from John lewis which I am in love with. The hanging fake plant is from Ikea and my many prescription glasses are from Firmoo.
I love having a neat and pretty desk because it really boosts my productivity levels. Having a nice place where you can focus is just essential to any girl boss out there! 🙂
