I’m sure you guys are familiar with The ordinary, in particular, The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution! I’ve had the exfoliating peel on my shelve for many months just staring at me and for some reason (laziness) I just haven’t gotten round to trying it. Being on lockdown gave me the perfect opportunity to rummage through my skincare products and purge! Let’s be real… I plan on coming out of this with amazing skin!
Since restarting my skincare journey I bought a few products to help with my acne scarring, blemishes and hyper-pigmentation. The exfoliating peel is very popular and claims to “Treating the top layer of skin, exfoliates for a brighter and clearer complexion. Fighting visible blemishes, continued weekly use reduces pore congestion and fine lines for a bright, youthful complexion”.
So I thought let me test it on my skin for 2 weeks and see what happens!

Why Is The Ordinary Peeling solution so affordable?
The Ordinary base their products around active ingredients by focusing simply on the ingredients which work they are able to keep their costs massively down and sell their products for a smaller price.
They also use minimal branding and does not focus heavily on traditional marketing which in my opinion seems like a cool marketing strategy.
Packaging
The product comes in a glass bottle with a dropper. The solution itself is bright red in colour and it has a gel-like consistency, It’s very easy to apply and spread the solution on your face. only a small amount of product is necessary for a single-use.
I was very curious about the colour so I did some research and found it’s due to the Tasmanian Pepperberry which is supposed to be the one responsible for reducing the tingling sensation from the acids.
It is recommended to apply The Ordinary Peeling Solution at night as the skin is more prone to sun damage because it’s removing a layer of dead skin and revealing fresher skin underneath. Also apply the product on dry skin using it no more than twice a week for a maximum of 10 mins!
I must confess, I did not use the exfoliating peel at night but mostly used in the afternoon partly because I’m not going anywhere. My skin is not that sensitive so I used it twice a week setting a 10-minute timer on my phone, after rinsing I made sure to follow up with my SPF!
The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution causes enhanced sensitivity to sunlight, always follow with sun protection.
This is a high concentration of direct acid, I would suggest patch testing it on the neck first or stay clear of this product if you have super sensitive skin.

Final thoughts
I have not noticed a miraculous change in my skin, however, my skin is a little clearer and brighter. My blemishes have faded but only a little. I still have bumps and pimples which I’m thinking perhaps I need to adjust my diet.
Having used this product for only two weeks I’m positive that if I continue to use for another month or so then I will see a noticeable improvement with my skin. I’m excited and I can’t wait to update this blog post with my 1-month update.
