We all know that having a skincare routine is the best way to get the best out of your skin, whether you’re after blemish-free, even skin tone or acne-free skin. Whatever your goals are it all starts with having a consistent routine. However, finding the right products to help you on that journey is always for long drawn out battle. Well, at least that’s how its been for me hence my excuse to refuel my inner product junkie.
In my latest Youtube video, I share a few skincare products that I picked up especially to help with my skin concerns which are mostly blemishes and hyperpigmentation. These are essentials skincare items that you need to build up a solid skincare routine.
Ok so let’s get serious, admittedly, I’ve not always been the most consistent with my skincare routine. I’ve always had the right intentions but somewhere along the way, I either stopped or just simply forgot to add that much needed SPF. Needless to say, I have a ton of excuses!
Now that we are in quarantine, what better time to focus on improving my skincare routine and making sure that doing everything I need to in order to get that beautiful glowy clear skin for Spring/summer.
With all that rambling, here’s a few skincare products I bought with the help of my friend who’s extremely passionate about skincare. Thanks girl!

What I bought To Build My Skincare routine & Fight Acne Scars & Blemishes
The Ordinary products are so affordable and effective, there’s a ton on review online so I definitely had to add this to my list.
The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% 30ml ( Vitamin c)
Vitamin C is an effective antioxidant it helps to :
- Brightens the skin tone and reduces the appearance of signs of ageing
- Fade hyperpigmentation
- Reduces the appearance of under-eye circles.
- Promotes collagen production
The Ordinary Retinol 0.2% in Squalane – 30ml
I started off with (0.2%) as I haven’t used this product in a little while. I will increase to 0.5% once my skin gets use to it.
Retinol is a Vitamin A that helps to:
- Increase the appearance of firmness
- Diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles
- Significantly improve uneven skin tone
- Smooth and refine the surface of the skin
CeraVe Foaming Cleanser Normal to Oily skin
I was really late to the party with this one but I’m so happy this was recommended to me. Hopefully, it lives up to the expectation!
Dermatologists recommend CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser for people with acne as it works to cleanse the skin and remove oil, without disrupting the skin’s protective barrier.
It won’t clog pores or dry the skin out
Contains niacinamide and ceramides to help calm and moisturize irritated skinLoreal Hydra Genius aloe water
This product was also very new to me and from research, it is said to be similar to Korean beauty products or at least influenced by them.
This one is formulated with aloe water and hyaluronic acid.
- The moisturizer helps remove the appearance of excess sebum for a fresh feel and leaves skin looking mattified
- It’s cooling, refreshing, and hydrating
La Roche Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Ultra-Light Fluid 50ml
I’m not a frequent user of SPF especially in the wintertime I always forget. Upon doing more researching and also being lectured by my friend. (I probably needed it lol) I’ve come to accept that this is an Imperative step in my skincare routine.
I’ve tried a few La Roche Posay products as you can see in my skincare routine here. I love their products so I’m hoping this doe snot disappoint.
P.s don’t let the picture fool you, this product is very very tiny!
La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Ultra-Light Fluid SPF 50+ Facial Sunscreen provides very high* UVA/UVB protection for the face, with broad-spectrum SPF 50+ featuring a lightweight, invisible texture. Ideal for normal to combination skin types. Specifically designed for sensitive skin, non-greasy and non-comedogenic, offering SPF 50+ protection
Simple Micellar Cleansing Water, Make up Remover
This is also another product I’ve never felt I needed in my skincare routine but It’s time to try new things Tesh!
Micellar water is not only gentle but also highly effective at removing dirt, makeup, and oil to help clear out your pores while toning the skin.
Plus, it’s free of alcohol and may help promote skin hydration while reducing irritation and inflammation.
I also grabbed some Micellar Makeup wipes from Super drugs. Usually, I use the Simple wipes but I wanted to switch things up and try something new.
Antipodes Baptise H20 Ultra-Hydrating Water Gel
I was very fortunate to be gifted* a few items from Antipodes Pr items. I plan to incorporate this into my nighttime skincare routine. I’m not familiar with this brand, however, there were some good reviews online so hopefully it should be good.
For beautiful skin, Antipodes’ Baptise skin-plumping organic moisturizer contains manuka honey and New Zealand plant and flower extracts that help foster healthy cell renewal, firm and protect the skin.
Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous Eye cream
I’ve been wanting an eye cream for some time so this was great timing!
Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous Eye cream is rich in vitamin C and adds immediate moisture.
