I’m always on the hunt for moisturising products for my natural hair so finding the right moisturising shampoos is a top priority on my list. For the past 8 years that I’ve been Natural (time has really flown by) I’ve gone through my fair share of shampoos, some that were amazing and others well… they’re just not worth mentioning!
Being the product junkie that I am, it was very hard nailing this number to 5. I know for many naturals finding the right moisturising Shampoos that actually works is never an easy process! I’m hoping this post will help to guide you on selecting products that will keep your curls moisturised!
Below I’m sharing 5 of my favourite moisturising Shampoos that also cleanses your hair without leaving your curls feeling stripped.
Lotta body milk and honey shampoo
This has been my main shampoo for a few weeks, I use this in conjunction with the conditioner. This is a creamy textured Shampoo that foams ups nicely with a beautiful light and floral scent that reminds me of spring. It’s very affordable as its less than £5 which is a bargain!
Claims – Nourishing formula to treat dry, rough strands and helps to restore moisture.
Ingredients – Milk & honey formula with milk protein – if you’re wondering what milk protein is then here’s what Google had to say
“A Milk Protein is one of the most nutrient-rich proteins due to its complete amino acid content. It offers anti-irritant and protective properties unmatched by any other protein. You’ll notice increased manageability and body of the hair along with increased hydration and elasticity.”
I love using this shampoo because it leaves my hair feeling moisturised, cleaned and not stripped. However, it does not add any slip so don’t expect your curls to be detangled! That’s where the conditioner comes in.
Camille rose Lavendar fresh cleanse Shampoo
This wouldn’t be a moisturising shampoo blog post without me mentioning Camille rose! You guys know I love her products. when it comes to moisture she always gonna be in my top 5.
I have both her shampoos, however, the one I have been using a lot is the Lavender Fresh and cleanse. Camille Rose Lavender fresh & cleanse Shampoo has apple cider vinegar which helps to clarify the scalp so my hair always feels super clean.
Lately, my scalp has become a lot more sensitive which means it needs quite a bit of TLC!. This Shampoo also has lavender oil which is great for itchy, dry scalp and can help to prevent dandruff. You can smell the apple cider vinegar but the mix of lavender helps to dull the smell
it’s a thinner and runnier consistency that’s also very lightweight and somewhat refreshing on my scalp. it’s great to use when you have product build-up, you know when you want to clean your hair and scalp but not wanting to strip it.
This a great cleansing shampoo that does not strip your hair, however, it’s not super moisturising but does a great job cleansing.
Creme of nature moisturise & shine shampoo
Ok…so this has been in my arsenal forever, I started using this product when it was recommended by a friend of mine years ago at the beginning stages of my natural hair journey. I wanted moisturising Shampoo that wouldn’t break the bank.
The moisturise & shine Shampoo has a very thick and creamy consistency that lathers up really nicely. A little really goes a long way!
It has amazing slip and which means detangling just got easier. I’m not currently using this shampoo but when I was my hair always felt cleansed and moisturised.
Con- Whenever, I used the Creme of Nature moisturising Shampoos I always followed up with a clarifying product once a month to ensure that my scalp was squeaky clean.
Overall, it’s very very moisturising and Cheap!
Eden body works peppermint tea tree shampoo
This is one of my go-to Shampoos which I’m sure you would have seen feature on my Youtube Channel.
I love the Eden body works Peppermint Shampoo because it leaves my scalp feeling super refreshed! It’s very runny and lightweight in texture with an invigorating smell.
Ingredients – Contains hydrolysed wheat protein
“Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein will greatly increase the hair’s ability to retain moisture, add volume, and reduce hair’s porosity while improving its smoothness”
Claims – Increases scalp circulation for a refreshed, renewed feeling. helps to alleviate dry, flaking scalp with the use of pure peppermint botanicals
Honestly, it does what it says on the bottle!
Activilong Actiforce Fortifying Shampoo Black Castor Oil
This brand was introduced to me by TreasureTress (monthly subscription box for curly hair) I tried their leave-in conditioner and soon after I was obsessed with most of their products!
I’ve mentioned Activilong Paris a few times in my videos. This is also another creamy-textured Shampoo that literally smells of Black castor oil. It lathers up really nicely so be sure to use it sparingly. It’s very affordable and cleans your scalp without feeling stripped. The Activilong Fortifying shampoo is great if your hair is feeling dry and brittle and needs that extra layer of moisture, it would work great on 4type hair as well.
I don’t use this shampoo as often but whenever I’m in search of moisturising Shampoos this is the one I will reach for. I also love their co-wash and leave-in conditioner
