Flat twist styles have slowly become my favorite low manipulation styles to rock. Not only are they versatile, but they’re also a brilliant way to keep your hair moisturized and protected from unnecessary damage. Over the years I’ve attempted and even somewhat perfected a few flat twist styles & updos. Let’s be honest our favorite YouTubers make it look sooo easy (I’m guilty of this) but in reality, you will need to practice a few times to really get the hang of things.
If you’re ready to ditch the same styles you rock on a daily basis or tired of doing braids then keep scrolling. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite flat twist styles I’ve rocked throughout the years.
Why you should ditch the braids and rock flat twist styles more often
There’s not much manipulation required, once this style is complete. Flat twists are an excellent style for meeting your hair growth goals. It is very satisfying to see how much length has been retained once the twists are taken down. Tucking your ends away will fully protect them and lead to even more length retention. Twisted styles can be very convenient and quick depending on the choice of style, Flat twists are super versatile, you can do different unique patterns and have as many sections as you would like. You can also make your flat twists hairstyles into voluminous buns or a ponytail by leaving your ends loose.
A popular style for flat twists is to take them down after a few days. This will reveal a beautiful crimped curl pattern that can be worn in many styles.
